Sweet Spots
Toco Hills - Weekend shopping and food. Chopt salad, Mags, Spiller Park, Crumbl, Ulta.
ViHi- (Virginia Highlands), residential neighborhood full of shops, coffee shops. I recommend Pizza Pielands, the bookstore and Perk Coffee. Great for buying small gifts or taking a walk.
Ponce City Market - rooftop is great for carnival-style games. Bottom floor has a lot of restaurants (food court style) some cute shops and always something new/trendy.
Krog St Market- Foodcourt with a coffeshop (Little Tart), and around 10-15 food options from around the world. Vietnamese, italian, cuban, etc. There's a good brewery and design shop too.
Buford Highway- you'll find a great variety of international cuisine. Explore the Asian Square or the Latin American Farmers Market. Arepas & tres leches (Arepa Grill), Vietnamese (Nam Phuong) for Pho, Thai (tum pok pok).
Innman Park
Activities
Running, biking or scooter along the beltline
Piedmont park- outdoor concerts, scooters, picnic + Botanical Garden
Touristy: World of CocaCola/Aquarium (both in Midtown)
The Carter Museum
Farmers Markets- Freedom Farmers Mkt on Sundays
High Museum
Shopping:
Lenox Mall
Little Five Points area (thrift shops + outdoor mall)
Trader Joes, Midtown
Alon's Bakery and Market (for gifts, special gourmet food), and Savi Provisions (similar, more convenience. They have one at Emory Village.
ALDI (cheaper fruits and vegs), Kroger (get a member card from day 1)
Less frequented by me: Publix, Costco, WholeFoods.
Hikes and daytrips around Atl:
Brasstown Bald
Blood Mountain
Smoky mountains (TN, 4-5hr drive), went twice
Nantahala National forest (NC, 3-4hr drive)
East Palisades Trail (bamboo forest inside the city)
Stone Mountain trail (1hr up, went for the sunrise twice).
Morningside Natural Park (al lado de Rocksprings, donde vivía cuando me mudé)
Lullwater Preserve (Emory's backyard, has a beautiful lake and is open to the public).
